Boosting male fertility

male fertility

When you are trying to conceive, it is fair to say that it is not a women´s issue but men as well.In a previous post we talked about female fertility and some advises when you are trying to conceive.

In this post, we will explain you how to boost male fertility.

If it is the first time you are trying to conceive, you may find yourselves wondering if you are fertile or not and it is very common to feel insecurities. It is perfectly normal that getting pregnant takes a few months. However, if this process is getting longer, you and your partner should check with your doctor to make sure both of you are healthy and fertile.

  • It is important to control your weight since it plays a significant role in conception. Obesity and slimness might affect your fertility and your partner´s. The Body Mass Index (BMI) should be between 18 and 25, so a BMI beyond or below could limit the possibilities of conception.
  • Exercise will help you to burn calories and reduce stress.
  • Eating well is fundamental. Try to avoid excess fats and calories and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. High protein food and carbohydrates are also recommended.
  • Take vitaminic complements such as Vitamin C, D, E, zinc, folic acid and Omega-3. The folic acid will improve sperm quality and will help the woman to avoid neural tube defects.
  • Avoid tobacco, caffeine, alcohol and drugs. Thus sperm will be plentiful and healthy. A healthy sperm needs time so if you and your partner are thinking about conception, it is important to reduce or avoid these bad habits three months earlier before trying to conceive.
  • Tight underwear or pants might interfere with male fertility weaking the quality of sperm.
  • Saunas, steam baths, and laptops placed directly on your genitals raise your body temperature lowering the quantity and quality of sperm.
  • Avoid stress since it can alter hormones and interfere the production of sperm. Getting enough sleep and regular exercise will help you to reduce it.
  • In case you suffer from a chronic disease such as hypertension or diabetes, it is quite important to having regular medical checkups in order to have it under control.

Many couple use personal and homemade lubricants to make intercourse more exciting, but they do not know that these kind of lubricants are proven to have negative effects on the fertilization process.  This is because sperm requires a pH in the range of 7.0–8.5 and the pH of personal lubricants is much lower so they create a barrier avoiding sperm motility.

But Conceive Plus is a fertility friendly lubricant specially formulated for couples who are trying to conceive since it is safe for sperm.

Having healthy sperm is essential to conceive. A low sperm count does not mean infertility but there are fewer than normal healthy sperm per ejaculation.

Conceive Plus can provide additional moisture for an easier path for sperm to swim up through the cervix and reach the egg thanks to its components.

Prolonged abstinence has negative effects on conception. Likewise, more is not always better; having sex more than once a day might cause “burnout”.

Most couple know how important is to know which are the fertile days but limiting intercourse only when your partner is ovulating is a mistake firstly because sometimes is not easy to know which are exactly the women fertile days and secondly because schedule intercourse can be rather stressful, particularly for men. So having intercourse 3 times per week is the ideal frequency to avoid miscalculations.

As you see, it is quite easy to boost male fertility since everything revolves around living a healthy life.
