You can try this technique yourself or another person like your partner. If your partner is doing the massage, keep in mind that it is perfectly natural to experiment awkward feelings.

Before the massage

Take a warm bath in order to loosen up the muscles that surround your perineum so you will be more relaxed.

Clean hands deeply with soap and water, and make sure your fingernails are trimmed so that they can't scratch you.

At the beginning, help you with a mirror so you can see what you're doing and familiarize yourself with your perineal area.

Apply a lubricant to your fingers (or your partner´s) and the perineum tissues before you insert your fingers in your vagina. An excellent option is the pure mosquetarosehip oil.

Get comfortable and sit in a semi-reclined position in a warm, comfortable area, like your bed or a bidet. It is quite important to be relaxed and comfortable due to the massage will take some minutes.

Use your thumbs to do the massage. Your partner will use the forefingers and middle fingers.

How to do it?

Place your thumbs about 1 to 1 ½ inches inside your vagina. Press down toward the rectum and towards the vagina walls. Stretch it very gently until you feel a slight stinging or burning.

Straightaway, hold your fingers in the same position and glide them from inside to outside and to the vagina walls for about two minutes. Of this way, you will help your muscles to get relaxed.

You can repeat these steps until 5-7 daily minutes.

At the beginning, the massage can be slightly unpleasant but as days go by, you will feel that the area is more flexible you will be more confident in regards to the childbirth.
